(UPDATE) UPM, it was already 2 weeks time.
|
Update... Mederkareview (online) has this reported: "According to UPM, the result of the committee investigation was CLASSIFIED. Report of this committee will submit directly to Higher Education Ministry. Therefore, the only way to know the answer is ask it from Higher Education Ministry."......Classified? something related to national security? *_* ......
Persons involved from SPF were called to attend an interview by committee. They doubt the way handles by this committee. According to them, questions been asked were misleading and not relevant to the incident. Merdekareview (online) had this reported unfortunately these articles here and here are in Chinese, I’m still looking for English articles.

Will this become another show again? UPM already broadcasted once on 21st July 2006; will this become the second?

Test your ability to handle stress
|

Mentioned in e-mail, these pictures are used to test the level of stress a person can handle. They are absolutely still, none of them are animated. The slower the pictures are in motion, the better your capability to handle stress. Test yourself and see what your result is. Have a nice Monday.

Double "holy" the mainstream media now?
|
Government looking at gaps in printing Act
PUTRAJAYA: The Government will study if the Printing Presses and Publications Act should be amended to include the electronic media and the Internet media.
Deputy Internal Security Minister Datuk Fu Ah Kiow said since the Act was formulated more than 20 years ago, there had been a lot of new developments in the media world and yet only the print media came under the supervision of the ministry.
He said the print media had made numerous references to the anomaly that existed, which allowed the electronic media to get away with things that the print media could not.
“They feel there are double standards, and that it is not a level playing field,” he told reporters yesterday after the closing of the ministry's Mass Media Conference 2006.
“We too admit there is this gap between the various types of media.
“We are looking into whether to set up one unit to monitor the different types of media.
Fu said the study would also ascertain if the Act was still relevant to today’s needs.
“Just because we are studying it doesn't mean that it will be amended,” he added.
Wonderful, this is the way Malaysia “looks” at the challenges of the globalisation era and internet era. Hello, Malaysians. Are you 3 years old?

"Holy" the mainstream media
|
I don’t know why readers like to read alternative media? In fact, I do practice this everyday. I read a lot of alternative media everyday. Ya, why, why, and why? I still remember a sentence by a headmaster (one of my course-mates) while I’m doing for my first degree. He said: the only news can be trusted on mainstream newspapers nowadays was the result of 4D, Da Ma Cai and Toto.

SUHAKAM : universities should take HUMAN rights lessons.
|
“Every university student must have a basic understanding about human rights and the consequences in transgressing them,” N Siva Subramaniam.
Siva said Suhakam will hold discussions with public universities next month regarding this issue.
The commissioner was responding to the July 11 and 17 frays in UPM which came to light after a video recording surfaced.
In the incidents, a large number of students from the pro-establishment camp - which is backed by the campus authorities - pushed and shoved students from their rival ‘independent’ camp.
On both occasions, the ‘independent camp’ students were in the midst of setting up a ‘help counter’ at the campus canteen to assist newly-enrolled students.
However, Suhakam said it has yet to receive any complaints on the incidents.

I have a question here…
If I’m not mistaken local government universities have been corporatized several years ago. Can someone tell me, what the word corporate mean? Does it mean students in universities nowadays are considering as their customer? If yes, students in universities should learn consumer rights lessons too.

What are you doing when you are 7 years old?
|
Well, Tze Teng, Chia from SJK(C) Yuk Choy in Ipoh, Perak has already designed his own homepage. Mind you, he is a seven years old pupil. Reported on theStar online today he learnt to use a computer when he was two, and designed a web page featuring his favourite cartoons while he was four. Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful!
Everything starts from small and young, just like my 4896 blog. I’m new to blogosphere, I still learning how to blog, feel exactly like the time when I was seven years old.

Today, my blog was already been visited more than 500 times. Wonderful, I consider this is a small token to me :)

As mentioned in the Star, 2 groups of these students have a meeting on yesterday as instructed by the Higher Education Minister,Datuk Mustapa Mohamed to UPM. However, the result of that meeting was really disappointed! Beh Lih Yi of Malaysiakini has full report on this. Since not everyone here subscribes to Malaysiakini, I attach it (this time) for your reference. Read it and look at how UPM handles this matter.
Student scuffles: UPM’s damage control pathetic
Beh Lih Yi
Jul 21, 06 10:58pm
Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), which is embroiled in a series of controversies lately, failed to shed light on recent campus scuffles involving rival camps of its students. Instead, its press conference on the issue today at its campus in Serdang turned into a black comedy of sorts.
Speaking at the hastily-arranged press conference, UPM vice-chancellor Prof Dr Nik Mustapha R Abdullah (right) benignly said the scuffles were racially-motivated rather than blatant intimidation by students from the ‘pro-establishment’ camp.
“UPM has called these student leaders and advised them to exercise more caution in racial ties. We also asked them to think rationally to ensure the campus remains in harmony,” he said, adding a series of programmes to ‘enhance unity’ among students has been planned.
Dozens of the ‘pro-establishment’ students - backed by campus authorities - had manhandled fellow students perceived to be from the rival ‘independent’ camp during two separate frays on July 11 and Monday.
On both occasions, the ‘independent camp’ students from the UPM Student Progressive Front (SPF) were setting up a ‘help counter’ at the campus canteen to assist newly-enrolled students when they were stopped by pro-establishment students who pushed and scolded them.
Present at today’s press conference were about 100 students together with UPM deputy vice-chancellors Assoc Prof Dr Azali Mohamed (student affairs and alumni) and Prof Dr Radin Umar Radin Sohadi (academic and international affairs).
A check, however, revealed that the students were all from the ‘pro-establishment’ faction.
Comments reserved
After Nik Mustapha finished reading from his prepared statement, Azali immediately requested for a photo session. “Can we call a few Chinese students to come (for the photo) as background?” said Azali aloud.
To this, Malay and Chinese students came forward and shook hands, the two groups led respectively by the UPM’s student representative council president Abdul Manaf Ariffin and its treasurer Alex Yong. As the students - all from the same faction - shook hands, the emcee proudly noted the ‘evidence and reality of racial integration’ in UPM.
UPM’s student representative council is dominated by the ‘pro-establishment’ camp.
Several students who were present told malaysiakini that they were just first-year students and were told by their seniors to turn up for the press conference.
When asked whether the individuals in the mob who heckled the SPF students had been identified, Nik Mustapha answered: “We have taken certain steps in this matter [...] the faces in the video recording were not clear. We have to call more eyewitnesses to know what transpired.”
When it was pointed out that the video recording of the incident had showed students representative council head Abdul Manaf present during one scuffle, the vice-chancellor reiterated that he had to launch a probe first.
Asked whether he was tolerating a gangster culture on campus, he replied: “No, I reserve my comments.”
He argued the matter did not warrant any action and the university wanted to investigate it thoroughly with a report to be prepared. He was uncertain when the report would be finished.
Approached by reporters after the press conference, Nik Mustapha made an about-turn and said he had not blamed the scuffles on racial issues.
“It’s not an ethnic problem. Maybe it was a misunderstanding, it has nothing to do with race, religion or politics, it was purely student activities,” said the vice-chancellor despite being reminded this was contrary to the statement he had just read out.
'It's funny'
On why SPF-aligned students were not invited for the press conference and photo session, Nik Mustapha replied: “We have called them (the SPF students) but these are the only people present”.
Azali, when met later, said the university will let the police investigate the incidents since police reports have been made by SPF students.
However, a police official was quoted in The Sun today as saying the police will let the university handle the matter internally.
SPF coordinator Simon Ooi (left), when contacted this afternoon, told malaysiakini that they were in the dark over the press conference despite the university’s claim to having extended an invitation.
“It is funny how the students who attacked us shook hands among themselves besides the attempt to blame the scuffles as a racial issue. The core of the matter is that the university is suppressing students from carrying out activities on campus,” said the 22-year-old third-year student.
Earlier this week, UPM was instructed by the cabinet to withdraw its controversial ethnic relations reference textbook following an outrage from the public over distorted facts and bias.
Does it means barbaric behaviour is allow? This is a bad example and a bad start!
I fully agree with the Sensintrovert on his Your One-Stop Guide To The Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) Mob Video blog topic(updating),
he said "Believe me, this is NO small matter. It all roots back to how our education system, which takes up a large proportion of our expenditure (incomed from you tax-payers and the oil), is breeding the generation of youth supposedly leading our country in future. But why blame them? If their leaders could act like thugs in general assemblies (keris waving, remember?) and in Parliament, shout and show profanities publicly, and even encouraged these acts (by planning to employ them to collect debts in Perlis), what do you expect these kids turned out to be? And don't get me started on the corruption, accountability, credibility, blah, blah..."
So, as usual... sweep everything under the carpet, unless someone or more poeple die? if not everything sure "KAU TIM" (settled)? or You tak suka, you keluar Malaysia?
What a JOKE of the day...

A student of one of the college in Malaysia
|
I received this email yesterday morning. It seems that someone else in Malaysia wish to share his income with me although I never meet him before. His name is Aziz Kazim and he claimed he is a student from ONE of college in Malaysia (actually I don’t know how many colleges in Malaysia). He said his customer from U.K. want to buy Thamacyne xp1000 which uses to prevent from ALL KINDS of infectious diseases, like the MAD COW disease, make them grow healthier, faster and for them not to transfer any of these diseases to human. (so powerful drugs?) Guest how much he wants to give me? It is 60% of his earnings, so generous? This is the full textAttention:
DEAR LIM KEAN JIN,I am Aziz Kazim,a student of one of the college here in Malaysia. With due respect and regard, I have decided to contact you on a business transaction that will be very beneficial to both of us at the end of the transaction.I wish to inform you that one of my customer Dr, Abdul-Jubril Doseh, will be coming from U.K to Malaysia to purchase, Animal Injection and some other veterinary Equipments for their Farm Settlement in South Africa, the (LIVESTOCK COOPERATIVE ASSOCIATION)
The name of the injection is Thamacyne xp1000.
It uses to prevent:
1) All kinds of infectious diseases, like the MAD COW disease.
2) It makes them grow healthier and faster.
3)For them not to transfer any of these diseases to human. This medicine is brought in from Thailand to their franchise office in penang and they are attached to W.H.O. office in Malaysia. This medicine is packed ten bottles per carton. We buy this medicine RM 700per bottle.(RM700/10bottles=RM7,000.)Per/carton.
We sale to the Doctor RM 1,300 per bottle.(RM1,300/10bottles=RM13,000)per carton.
We are acting as middlemen for us to make our gain by not letting our South UK Buyers to know the Malaysian sellers, because if they know they will have to buy directly from the suppliers and there by cutting us out from making our little profit. They always come to buy cash on delivery. This is to avoid check or bank transfers inconveniences. Why I needed you to assist me in financing this business is because the Chinese man I have been dealing with has to gone to China to set up big Multi National Company.Presently the Doctor have been calling me that they are out of stock and they want to come, I have to tell them that there is no stock now because I have not yet found a Local citizen who will represent and deal with them as the direct supplier. So if you are willing to partake in this business I will first link you to the Malaysian Seller so that you can know more about the Product, before I will link you to the Foreign Doctors so that you can Act as the direct Supplier. At the end of the day we have to take out the amount you use in purchasing the product. The profit we make has to be shared 60% for you as the financier and 40% for me.Like I told you I would like you to handle this transaction with all seriousness because its going to be a long term transaction. And I want you know that you will be handling this transaction even when ever am not around and you will be there always to secure our % because I don want to loose this contact to the a direct foreign buyers
Waiting to hear from you ASAP.
Regards,
Aziz Kazim.

Malaysian excuses
|
I received this in my email from a friend of mine. I hope you would laugh about later on.
NATIONAL EXCUSE FOR HAIR LOSS:
Maggi Mee.
NATIONAL EXCUSE FOR BEING LATE:
Traffic Jam.
NATIONAL CONDOM:None. Most Malaysians still feel embarrassed buying condoms. So they rushed into a 7-11,hurriedly grab the nearest pack, any pack, pay and leave before the cashier can even blink an eye.
NATIONAL FRUIT FOR INDUCING MENSTRUATION:
Pineapple
NATIONAL APHRODISIAC DRINK:
Stout. Many swear by it. But after a few pints they start swearing at everything...
NATIONAL FAKE ILLNESS FOR GETTING MC (MEN):
Food Poisoning.
NATIONAL FAKE ILLNESS FOR GETTING MC (WOMEN):
Menstrual Pain
NATIONAL EXCUSES GIVEN BY WOMEN WHEN REFUSING SEX:Headache, kids not asleep, maid not asleep,mother-in-law around, early appointment,
food not digested yet, aircond not cold enough, aircond too cold, nail polish not dry yet, forgot to take the pill, sleepy, stomach cramps, period, haven't remove make-up, haven't shower, no water supply, going to watch "Santa Barbara", depress, no mood, etc...
NATIONAL EXCUSES GIVEN BY MEN WHEN REFUSING SEX:
None. Malaysian men never refuse sex.
NATIONAL CURE FOR HEADACHES:

NATIONAL CURE FOR DIZZINESS:
Minyak Angin Cap Kapak.
NATIONAL CAUSE OF DIZZINESS (FOR YUPPIES):
Happy Hours.
NATIONAL INSTANT CURE FOR DIZZINESS (FOR YUPPIES):

NATIONAL RUBBISH DUMP:
Anywhere. As long as it is not your house.
NATIONAL MOST MIS-PRONOUNCED NAME:Carrefour. Sometimes even pronounced as Carry 4! On second thoughts, why bother
pronouncing stupid French brands like Peugeot, Renault or Citroen correctly. I think it sounds better, whe! n the local mechanics say "Pew Jeot".When I was in school, Milowas always 'Mee Lo', now that I'm sophisticated, I say "My Lo". So don't be embarassed saying "Carry 4" when the Mat Sallehs shamelessly pronounce orang utan as "rangutan".

Penalty for losing MyKad may cost 10 times more
BY MANJIT KAURKANGAR: Malaysians may have to pay a fine of RM100 - 10 times the present amount - for losing their MyKad if a proposal by the Home Affairs Ministry is implemented. Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Radzi Sheikh Ahmad said if they lost their MyKad the second and third time, they would be fined RM200 and RM300 respectively under the proposal. He said the proposal would be submitted to the Cabinet this week.
“Some 1,000 MyKads are reported missing daily, and therefore, such a move is necessary.”……
……Businesswoman S. Josephine, 32, who is a snatch theft victim, echoed Nordin’s suggestion and said the Government should consider not making victims pay the RM100 fine.
This make me recall an incident happened in the year 2003.
