Khairy: “Leaders from the other parties may have misinterpreted my statement.” He was referring to a report in a Chinese daily* that quoted several leaders criticising him for allegedly saying that non-Malays would take advantage of a weak UMNO to make demands.(one chinese daily? Look at the picture. Why only chinese newspapers published it?)
Citing issues raised by the Chinese election watch group Su Qiu in the 1999 elections, Khairy said: “Umno was weak at that time and people took advantage of that.”

巫青全國副團長凱里說，巫統內亂將弱化黨，進而讓華人乘機為華族權益提出種種要求。他說，在1999年全國大選後，一些華人因國陣在大選中靠華印選民的選票勝出，而乘巫統出現內部分裂而提呈“訴求”。“今年馬華部長針對華裔權益課題提呈備忘錄給首相，也是以為巫統處在弱勢。” 他說：“我們不能怪馬華、民政利用機會為他們的民族爭取權益，並提出各種要求，而是巫統如果處於弱勢就會讓他們找到機會這樣做。” 凱里週五（18日）為尤崙巫青團代表大會主持開幕時說，在1999年全國大選獲勝，人家可以說是靠華印力量；但在2004年全國大選，巫統奪回登嘉樓政權和收復吉蘭丹多個失去的議席，今天巫統已經強大，沒有人能再說這些勝利是必須靠其他人。
Come on, how many years already this old old old “politic tactic” is played? First is Penang CM must be rotated then non-Malays would take advantage of a weak UMNO to make demands. What next? Are they really bankrupt of ideas or they have another agendas behind?Now, he said “My statement was misinterpreted by other parties’ leaders.” How about “My statement was misinterpreted by mainstream newspapers” as his next "explaination"?
Malaysia will celebrate 50th anniversary MERDEKA next year, however, those kinds of people still remain in the year 1900’s although obtained a degree from “where?” Never finish using the Chinese and other races as the bogeyman for political gains. Do Chinese and other races in Malaysia not contribute to Malaysia? Answer this question honestly before you say something. How many generations already other races been born in Malaysia? Go to do some homework then you only say.
